The Sugar Shack

Ahhh, the Sugar Shack. The marvelous tradition in Quebec of gathering sap from the Maple trees and making Maple Syrup! It was Jacob and Mason's first experience with sugaring off and I know for a fact that it was a hit!

The outing was organised again by PACE. Mostly because we have a new mom in the group who actually runs a maple syrup business. The really great part is that the shack was only a 5 minute's drive from our house!

It was a perfect day for the event because the snow meant we could make our sugar lollipops! This is done by letting little puddles of syrup freeze on a clean slate of snow. Then we take a Popsicle stick and roll the syrup around the stick. Yummy!

Jacob and Mason were both VERY sticky after the treat, but it was all worth it! I hope we can take Logan this weekend to enjoy the experience as well!

Once we got home the sugar high was at its peak so we had some lunch and then the boys had a nap! I actually got an hour of peace!

Brotherly love!
Next year maybe we will try the bigger sugar shack that hosts a huge meal and dancing afterwards with traditional Quebec folk music!

Blessings
